S.C. Hopkins, M.D., FACS, FRCS, received his medical degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada in 1976. He completed his surgical training with specialization in urological surgery at the McGill University Teaching Hospitals.
He was a research fellow in the department of urological surgery at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, Tennessee, where he received specialized postgraduate training in surgical techniques to manage urological cancers.
In 1982, he was appointed assistant professor of urology at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida.
In 1986, Dr. Hopkins received a staff appointment to Bethesda Memorial Hospital in Boynton Beach, Florida, and established a private practice there. He is one of 12 doctors at Bethesda Memorial Hospital who specializes in Urology. He specializes in urological cancers and surgical treatment of incontinence. He has also been performing minimally invasive procedures to successfully treat problems of urinary leakage in both men and women.
Dr. Hopkins is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of the American Urological Association, the American Association of Clinical Urology, the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association, Florida Medical Association, and the Palm Beach County Medical Society.
In an effort to provide superior care and individualized attention to each and every patient, Dr. Hopkins’ medical practice is not associated with any group practice. He provides each patient with a thorough in-depth consultation and follow-up care. By establishing a close relationship with patients and their primary care providers, he believes that a collaborative effort results in optimal continuity of care. Dr. Hopkins is dedicated to providing a supportive environment where individual urological needs are thoroughly addressed. Since 2003, Dr. Hopkins has been serving the community by offering pro bono medical services to migrant patients at Mision Reina de la Paz. The clinic supervisor typically schedules back to back appointments for Dr Hopkins on 1 – 2 Saturdays per month. Dr Hopkins examines and diagnoses patients at the clinic and makes recommendations for tests or surgeries if required.
